Large metro urban cores saw single-family construction fall by about 14% year-over-year\u2014a fifth straight quarterly dip\u2014though that\u2019s a slight improvement over last quarter. Interestingly, small metro outlying areas bucked the trend, with single-family activity rising by about 1% after four quarters of declines. Rural areas were down 1%, and other non-rural markets dropped 7%.
